World Asthma Day 2006 took place on Tuesday, May 2, 2006. Events and activities worldwide took place around the theme "The Unmet Needs of Asthma." The GINA Executive Committee chose to continue to draw on the theme introduced in 2005, but In 2006, World Asthma Day materials and activities also emphasized how unmet needs diminish control of asthma. Asthma control is the goal of treatment and can be achieved in the vast majority of asthma patients with proper management.
